DLG Network for Research and Innovation
Network Structure and Organization
The DLG Network for Research and Innovation is structured to harness the collective expertise and resources of both internal and external partners. Internally, the network is closely aligned with DLG’s Competence Centers on Agriculture and Food, the DLG Verlag (specialized publishers), DLG international network for trade fairs, conferences and international projekcts as well as the DLG Test Service for food and agricultural testing.
This internal alignment provides a robust foundation of expert knowledge, cutting-edge infrastructure, and standardized processes that span the entire agri-food value chain. The network is further strengthened by its connections to numerous external networks and organizations, which allow for a broader integration of global perspectives and specialized expertise.
Participating Organizations and Research Institutions
Participating Organizations and Research Institutions
Our network includes a diverse array of organizations and research institutions that contribute to its dynamic environment. Key participants include:
- External partners like the DAF, University of Lisbon, and other research organizations
- Industry stakeholders, including forward-thinking farmers, innovative agribusiness entrepreneurs, and young professionals
- Standardization bodies such as DIN
- Governmental bodies involved in agricultural projects, like DIP Agrar
These collaborations ensure that the network is not only well-rounded but also at the forefront of addressing both current and emerging challenges in agriculture and food production.
Collaboration Processes and Typical Workflow
The DLG Network operates through a well-defined collaborative process that fosters innovation and effective project management.
Key processes include:
Project Initiation and Planning
Projects are typically initiated in consultation with relevant stakeholders and experts, ensuring that each project is grounded in practical needs and scientific rigor.
2. Alignment and Resource Allocation
Resources are allocated from within the DLG’s extensive infrastructure, including technology testing facilities, communication platforms, and dissemination tools. External resources and expertise are also integrated where needed.
3. Execution and Management
Projects are managed through a collaborative approach, involving regular communication, progress tracking, and alignment with both internal and external partners. The DLG Research & Innovation Unit plays a central role in overseeing and guiding these processes.
4. Dissemination and Exploitation
Upon completion, research findings are disseminated through DLG’s established communication platforms and media channels. Additionally, exploitation platforms and supporting networks are leveraged to ensure that the research outputs have a meaningful impact on the agri-food sector.
Handling of Research Outcomes
The DLG Network places a strong emphasis on the effective dissemination and exploitation of research outcomes. Research results are:
- Published through extensive DLG publication network, ensuring wide reach and accessibility.
- Shared within the network through expert committees and external forums, facilitating knowledge exchange and broader application.
- Implemented in real-world settings through partnerships with agribusinesses and farmers, with a focus on enhancing sustainability and innovation.
- Integrated into policy discussions and standardization efforts, particularly through partnerships with organizations like DIN and governmental bodies
- Presented at conferences and industry trade fairs, allowing for direct engagement with the wider scientific and professional community.
