CUBES Circle

Sustainable, energy- and resource-efficient food production in production systems

Objectives

The CUBES Circle project aims to achieve sustainable, energy- and resource-efficient food production in systems that combine aquaculture, insect, and plant production. The mission of the project is to develop and test a closed symbiotic cycle system of modular units with the goal of highly resource-efficient food production. The central research tasks of the project are: i) optimization of control and regulation algorithms for resource-optimized networking of the ProductionCUBES, ii) optimization of intrinsic material cycles while simultaneously integrating sustainable materials from outside, and iii) testing new cultures and organisms for their suitability in the Circle as well as exchanging materials with other agricultural systems. Finally, the project aims to ensure the utilization of the results achieved within the consortium.
